This Morning ‘s Holly Willoughby looked worried as Health Secretary Matt Hancock insisted no one was confused by the new social distancing measures.
Holly and co host Phillip Schofield snapped live on air on Monday as they branded the new guidelines «confusing» and revealed it had really knocked them back.
Phillip asked the MP if he agreed the new rules had been confusing and if the timings were poor, as the public had to wait 24 hours for Prime Minister Boris Johnson to answer questions and for a lengthy document to be released.
But Matt firmly disagreed there had been any confusion among his constituents, adding that they are using their common sense.
Phil brought up the viral Matt Lucas video of his bumbling Boris impression, and the fact that people had been baffled by the new scale of risk, comparing it to the Nandos heat scale.
«That is how the nation felt,» said Phillip.
«Well, I don't actually buy that,» the Health Sec quipped back.
«I've been talking to my constituents over the last couple of days about this, and they get it, they understand what «stay alert» means.»
He insisted people understood the «principles» of the new guidelines, and that we had to rely on our common sense.
The MP argued there was no point going back over the timings certain information was released and to who, because «what matters is the substance».
Phillip replied that people were «yearning for clarity» and still had lots of questions especially after Dominic Raab made an incorrect statement he was then forced to retract.
Bluntly, Matt replied: «Well why don't you ask me the questions and we can get through all of that.»
The first question was from Phillip, asking if he could only see one parent during lockdown, to which the answer was no.
We are permitted to see both parents, but only one at a time and in a public place, two metres apart, it was confirmed.
