A homeowner who asked their friend to feed their dog while they were away has been accused of being a ‘pervert' after confronting her about what they saw on the security footage.
The person who lives in the house explained that about six months ago they had installed three security cameras outside – facing the porch, backyard and back door, as well as one in the baby's room.
They never mentioned the cameras to their friends, arguing it's ‘fairly standard for 2020' and they always entertained guests inside, where the only camera was in the baby's room, which they would never use.
They recently went away for a few of days and asked a friend who lives close by to visit and let their dog out while they were gone, paying her for the favour.
When they returned, a neighbour mentioned that they had seen someone get dropped off at the house, go into the back garden and then leave.
Wanting to see who it had been, they checked the footage from their cameras and found it was an elderly man, who they assumed had thought it was his own home by mistake, and quickly left.
But while scrolling through the footage to find it, they spotted the friend visiting the home with two other women, who headed to the garden to use the hot tub, which is overlooked by one of the cameras.
The trio stripped naked in the garden before using the hot tub for about an hour before leaving again.
Having always made it clear the hot tub was off limits for guests, they wrote on Reddit: «I told my friend that I wish she had asked permission before using my hot tub and told her what I saw and she freaked out calling me a pervert.
«She says it's my responsibility to tell people I have cameras around my property, even if their usage is benign.
«She wants to file charges against me for voyeurism. Sure, I watched the clip but only to see the extent of it and I deleted it after I was done with it. I counter that her friends were trespassing and I didn't permit use of my hot tub to begin with.»
After asking for advice as to who was in the wrong, one replied: «It wouldn't have been a problem if she hadn't gone behind your back in the first place. It's a little weird to use your friend's hot tub without permission, naked. Not to mention inviting friends. She put herself in that situation.»
Another said: «She's lashing out because she got caught violating your trust.»
A third added: «Security cameras are for that purpose, to detect illegal activity, and you detected trespassing.»
