Housewarming gift for couple who have very little

Friends of mine have just bought a small house and will be moving in in June. They are both quite young (early/mid twenties) and for various reasons have been living *extremely* frugally until now to save up for the house. They own almost no furniture, and as far as I’m aware they also own almost no kitchen equipment (they used to work in food service and got all their meals as part of the job, and when they left that industry they started living with a roommate who let them use their pots and pans). They had originally planned to be married by now but are having to postpone the wedding due to the current crisis.

Because they’ve been making do with so little until now, I feel like a lot of standard housewarming gifts would be somewhere between useless and offensive. Why give them coasters when they don’t even own a table? Why give customized wine stoppers when they aren’t buying wine? Why give them cute move-in wall art when they’re more likely going to want wedding-related stuff instead within a year?

They are getting married in a year and will probably have a registry for that, but the female half of the couple has been a cross between a mentee and a baby sister to me, and I’d like to get her something small for her new home that will be genuinely useful in the interim.
