Google Family Link is a parental controls app that helps you keep your family safe online. With Family Link, you can:

Establish Digital Local Rules
• Set screen time limits — Family Link lets you set your child’s device timeout and app time limits, to help them find a healthy balance.
• Target age-appropriate content — Allow or block apps your child wants to download. Family Link also lets you choose what works best on YouTube for your child: supervised activity on YouTube, or YouTube Kids.

Manage and secure your child’s account
• Protect their privacy — Permissions management in Family Link allows you to make informed choices about your child’s data. View and manage permissions for websites and extensions accessed through Chrome and apps downloaded to your child’s device.
• Protect their account — Family Link gives you access to manage your child’s account and data settings. As a parent, you can help change or reset your child’s password if they forget it, edit their personal information or delete their account if you feel it’s appropriate.

Stay connected on the go
• See where they are — It’s helpful to be able to find your family when you’re on the go. With Family Link, you can find your kids on one map, as long as they have their device with them.
• Get notifications and alerts — Family Link delivers critical alerts including when your child arrives or leaves a certain location. You can also ring devices and view the remaining battery life of the device.

Important Information

• Family Link tools vary depending on your child’s device. See a list of compatible devices at families.google/familylink/device-compatibility/
• Although Family Link helps you manage your child’s purchases and downloads from Google Play, it won’t require permission to install app updates (including updates that extend permissions), apps you’ve previously approved, or apps shared in the Family Library. In addition, purchase authorizations will only apply when your child purchases through the Google Play payment system and will not apply to purchases made through other payment systems. Parents should regularly review their children’s installed apps and app permissions in Family Link.
• You should carefully review the apps on your child’s supervised device and disable the ones you don’t want them to use. Note that you will not be able to disable other pre-installed apps like Play, Google, etc.
• To see the location of your child or teen’s device, the device must be turned on, running recently, and connected to the Internet via data or wifi.
• Parental controls for Family Link are only available for supervised Google accounts. With supervised Google accounts, kids get access to Google products like Search, Chrome, and Gmail, and parents can set up basic digital rules to guide them.
• Although Family Link provides tools to manage what your child does online and keep them safe online, it does not make the Internet safe. Family Link cannot dictate online content, but it can give parents the opportunity to make decisions about how their child spends time on their device, and decide which approach to online safety seems best for your family.
