TCL Electronics announced Wednesday that it plans to launch its line of Android 4K and 8K QLED AI smart TVs in India in June. The new smart TV models from the Chinese company will be based on quantum dot display technology and will include features such as Dolby Vision and IMAX support. In January, TCL launched its 4K AI C8 series smart TVs in the country, as well as its AI ultra-inverter air conditioners. The company's existing smart TV models are equipped with far field voice recognition technology.

TCL's new smart TV series will be available in 4K and 8K QLED options and will run Google's Android TV, the company said in a press release. New TV models will have motion estimation and motion compensation (MEMC) which is promoted to allow stable picture quality without any motion blur at a screen refresh rate of 120 Hz In addition, you will benefit from quantum dot display technology to provide a deep imaging experience similar to 3D.

TCL has stated that the flagship televisions in the new line will include models with a pop-up camera that will allow video calls. It looks like the Honor Vision Pro and the Huawei Smart Screen V55i which have a context camera for video calls.

Upcoming smart TVs will also come with an external sound bar, designed by Onkyo. This soundbar will be supported by Dolby Atmos to provide cinema-style sound, the company said. There will also be Dolby Vision support for an enhanced HDR viewing experience. In addition, the new TVs will be equipped with artificial intelligence (AI) to personalize the image results.

"Intensify competition"
TCL has not released any pricing details for its next series of Android 4K and 8K QLED AI smart TVs. However, he mentioned that the new TV models will "increase competition" in the smart TV segment.

As a reminder, TCL brought its 4K C8 AI series smart TVs in January with a starting price of Rs. 49,990 for the 55-inch option, while it went up to Rs. 69,990 for a screen of 65 inches.
