This software application enables users to use cloud services to take screenshots, record their activities and share them on the Internet
TechSmith Capture It is a rebranding product that replaces Jing, which was retired due to Adobe’s support for the withdrawal of Flash in 2020. The new application provides a stylish and free screen recorder and capture software tool designed to meet the new post-Flash security standards.Mandatory account must be entered
Once TechSmith Capture is launched, you will be prompted to log in to your account or register a new account for free. This step is necessary due to the sharing option in TechSmith Capture, which allows you to upload files to Screencast.
Capture area, window or entire desktop
Using TechSmith Capture to capture screen shots and record their desktop activities is as easy as using Jing, if not that simple. The app displays a simple window with a single red shiny button to start capturing. Part of the GUI is hidden, that is, the upload queue for sharing screenshots and videos, as described below.
After pressing the capture button to use the SHIFT + F11 key combination, the target symbol will be displayed, allowing you to select the area or window to capture. TechSmith Capture can also capture or record the entire screen. It is recommended that you press the F1 help button to get instructions on how to perform target selection, at least until you get used to the application.
The selected area will be highlighted, while the rest of the desktop will be shaded, and a toolbar will be displayed that allows you to choose whether to take a screenshot or record desktop activities.
Record and share desktop activities
TechSmith Capture will display a preview of the screenshot, where you can use the available annotation tools to highlight important areas. You can draw arrows, shapes or callouts, and use a highlighter to point out something. Then you can save, copy, delete the snapshot or upload the snapshot to Screencast. Or, you can send it to TechSmith Capture’s queue and upload it later.
Video preview is also possible. However, there is no annotation tool available in this case. The clip will not be saved locally, which may be inconvenient, but you can share it via Screencast.
Capture screenshots and record screen easily
TechSmith Capture successfully replaced the outdated Jing and provided a current software utility that removed Flash support. Now, it provides a refurbished screen capture and recording tool with good response time and simple usage. Further improvements can indeed increase its value, but for now, it can be said that TechSmith Capture can easily capture and share desktop activities for anyone.
