If you share your Mac with others, or you can’t believe that people won’t snoop around, hiding them is a good idea. However, unlike Windows, hiding files is not easy. You have to use the terminal, which is not everyone’s favorite.

Intangible Provides a simpler solution that allows you to hide files or folders by dragging and dropping. It uses macOS hidden features, so if users know what they are doing, your files can still be accessed, but it’s better than nothing.

Hide files and folders by drag and drop

The application has a minimalistic user interface. To hide some content, just place them in the main window. The application applies the hidden attribute, which means that the files can only be accessed after the hidden files are displayed on your system.

You can view all hidden files at any time by launching the application. A quick view preview is also provided. You can enable password protection so that other people cannot access the file list.

Not suitable for protecting sensitive files

Your hidden items are not encrypted, anyone can find them by showing hidden files on Mac. Although there are far fewer users who know how to do this on macOS than on Windows, if someone is viewing your data, they can still find it.

You should not think of Invisible as a file protection tool, but as a simpler alternative to hiding files than using a terminal. With this in mind, and given the simplicity of the procedure, you have to wonder if it is really worth the money, or if it is best to get something that provides encryption.

All in all, if you just want to keep your desktop clean or make sure files are not visible to temporary bystanders, then Invisible should do the job well. This is of course better than doing nothing, and it is easier than hiding files through the terminal.
