Liminal space horror is an exciting genre that many gamers enjoy. For other indie horror that deals with well-documented fatigue intermediate spaces, try Eyes or Swamp Sim Horror.

The environment in Backrooms of Reality is likely to evoke memories for anyone who grew up with a parent who worked late hours in a corporate environment. This game is the embodiment of that feeling when you are a small child in a large, empty, dimly lit office building. The game plays on natural fears such as not being alone in an empty space, dim lighting situations, flickering lights and getting lost in a maze.

Gameplay

If you have any of the above fears, Backrooms of Reality will be an exciting adventure. The object of the game is to find the exit code for a door that you are not sure exists. As you move through the dimly lit liminal spaces, you will need to look up numbers scrawled on various objects and furniture. Avoid dark places and watch out for the sounds of footsteps and voices as you try to get out of the labyrinth of back rooms.

Graphics

The graphics in Backrooms of Reality are nothing but incredible. The lighting is hyper-realistic, especially when it comes to flickering lights and shadows. This goes well with the dark mood of the game. The reflections of light when hitting hard surfaces of different materials enhance the overall realism. Other features such as textured wallpapers and carpets, which also affect the movement of light, blur the line between the virtual and the real.

Underestimated realization of human fears

Backstage Rooms of Reality is a brilliant combination of explicit fears, like hearing footsteps in the dark and being followed, with fears playing at the outer edges of your perception. If not to be caught Whatever causes eerie footsteps and voices in the back rooms, there is little to scare you. As with most liminal space horrors, suspense has the biggest impact on how you play.
