Graphics

Fumes is reminiscent of the 90s with its pixel art, retro menus and in-game music. The game takes you back to the days of Vigilante 8 and Twisted Metal. Even though the graphic style looks like a very low resolution photo, the game is not of poor quality.

The cars are incredibly detailed. even because of their pixelated nature, and the game has advanced shader effects so everything looks really polished. Cars also take damage, which always enhances the gaming experience.

Gameplay

The smoke takes place in post-apocalyptic world where your car is your greatest asset. Your car is more than a means of transportation, it is a way to protect yourself. Design your car in an easy-to-use editor that can be accessed by driving up to a truck full of parts.

Once you receive your rocket launcher, towers and performance boosts, it’s time to take on 10 different bosses in a vehicle-centric world. Destroy them one by one and prove your courage.

Representation

A game works great. It’s also worth mentioning that Fumes is still in pre-alpha. While this usually means you should expect bugs and crashes to be found, Fumes works as an alpha version. Particle effects and explosions are incredibly realistic and do not slow down the game.

Expect to be amazed by the fluidity of the vehicles and the finer nuances like pitch and roll. This game has a lot of attention to detail.

If you’re looking for a healthy dose of nostalgia in the games you play, Fumes should be your next download. Graphics crazy for such a small gameand the attention to detail is unmatched in a retro-inspired gaming world.

Fumes is still in pre-alpha so expect fixes, updates and patches. Considering how much content the game already has in terms of vehicles and weapons, we don’t expect too much in the final build.
