The United States federal government has not detected a sharp increase in the number of cases of coronavirus infection in areas of the country where restrictions introduced due to the pandemic are gradually being lifted. This statement was made Sunday on CNN by Alex Azar, Minister of Health and Social Services, reports Trend
"We do not see outbreaks [diseases] in these places which are beginning to open up," he said. "But we are still seeing such outbreaks in some areas closed due to the special situation," said the minister.
According to him, the cancellation of previous measures in each of the country's 50 states cannot be treated with the "same measure". "Local authorities play a leading role in this area, state authorities oversee this process and the federal government provides expertise and support," said Azar.
US President Donald Trump announced on April 16 that authorities are embarking on a "country discovery". According to Johns Hopkins University, which performs calculations based on data from federal and local authorities, more than 1.46 million cases of coronavirus infection have been recorded in the United States, 88,761 people died, 268,376 recovered.
