Cities: Skylines by Colossal Order is a simulation game where you design and build your metropolis from the ground up. You can control it to perfection or install mods to spice up your gaming experience even more.

Handsome and flexible

Cities: Skylines takes a more flexible approach to the city sim genre, creating a new experience. It lets you create a city and watch it grow on both Windows and Mac computers (if you want to play on mobile, you can try Bit City).

The city size options are varied, allowing you to grow as much as you want. The map editor helps you determine where and how you want your creation to look. You can also play this game offline.

The gameplay is quite intuitive. You simply start by choosing a map and the name of your city. Then you set up some statistics that change your environment to start building.

Develop your city

The game will then take you to the map. Here you will find all the options located at the bottom of the screen for easy access.

Once you have built a city, you can also micro-manage it to perfection. Each district can get a specific set of rules and policies, which adds to the fun and realism of the game. Residents are interactive and will act based on how you organize them.

Perhaps the most exciting part of the game is its modification. The community has created many add-ons that you can add to make the game exactly fit your needs.

There are already over 35,000 community-made mods that allow you to fly around the city, add skateparks, improve citizens and traffic AI, among other things.

While this game isn’t perfect, it comes pretty close, especially if mods are involved in the picture. The graphics are beautiful, the gameplay is flexible, and your options are almost limitless. Cities: Skylines clearly dominates its biggest competitor, SimCity, and is one of the best games of its kind available.
