museum is an alternative music player with a minimal user interface and reduced to basic functionality. The player can handle popular audio file formats such as MP3, MP4, M4A/AAC, WAV, OGG and 3GPP.

Lightweight music player that automatically scans your music library for supported formats

To start using the Museeks player, you must first point the utility to your music library: just add the appropriate folder in the appropriate settings panel and press the “Refresh Library” button to start the scanning process.

Museeks will automatically load supported tracks and you can see their name, duration, artist, album or genre. You can choose to play the track immediately, add it to the queue, or assign it to a playlist via the context menu.

Other customization options include the possibility to adjust playback speed, switch to a dark interface theme, or enable sleep mode blocking tools.

Organize your tracks into playlists and control playback with basic controls

Note that Museeks has a separate tab for managing playlists, and you must navigate to this area to give newly created playlists a relevant name. For your convenience, Museeks automatically calculates the total duration of each playlist.

Museeks provides a separate panel for the queue list, and you can manage your entries in the same intuitive way: you can delete tracks, clear the list entirely, or view the total playback duration.

Museeks has a fairly basic playback controller: you can start or pause playback, skip to the previous or next track, adjust the volume, or enable shuffle or repeat modes.

At the same time, you can view the playback progress, the total duration of the current track, and jump to a specific segment with a single mouse click.

Simple audio player that may need further improvement

As long as your music library uses one of the few supported file formats, Museeks is sure to get the job done. The player contains everything you need to control playback and allows you to use playlists.

However, there are some small details to deal with, like you can’t set the name of a newly created playlist, or all subsequent tracks in the list are automatically added to the queue, so all your previous tweaks are lost.
