PopChar is a lightweight, unobtrusive and very easy-to-use macOS application that provides quick and easy access to all characters in all fonts, including those not directly accessible from the keyboard. PopChar is designed to run in the background and wait for you to summon it.

To access PopChar’s main window, you simply click on the status bar icon, which can be placed in the left and right corners of the menu bar or next to other status bar icons.

You can use PopChar with all modern applications that support Unicode and insert the desired character with the click of a mouse button.

Comprehensive character list

In PopChar’s main window, you can easily browse the entire font list, adjust the font size, and use the magnification tool to better see the desired character.

What’s more, the built-in search form speeds up your search process and helps you find characters in fonts by name.

With the help of PopChar, you can also find fonts that contain specific characters, browse font character sets, insert HMTL symbols, and collect your favorite characters. Designers will be happy to know that they can preview their text and characters with sample text, even before inserting them into their projects.

Three different character insertion modes

The bottom toolbar allows you to choose between three insertion modes. Therefore, you can choose to insert characters as plain text, formatted text, or HTML.

By accessing the Preferences slideshow, you can adjust the character size, customize the HTML insert mode, and change the position of the status bar icons.
