The middle row includes 3 navigation controls (Back, Forward and Stop/Refresh), a URL field that also allows direct Google web searches, and a star-shaped bookmark icon. Browser extensions and settings icons are located to the right of the URL field. The third row consists of bookmark folders and installed applications. This clean user interface, which is easy to overlook now, was a breath of fresh air compared to the crowded toolbars of popular pre-2008 browsers.

Confidentiality

Another hugely popular feature, incognito mode, allows you to browse privately by turning off history recording, reducing tracked breadcrumbs, and deleting tracking cookies on shutdown. Chrome’s settings also allow you to adjust your usual browsing privacy options.

Safety

The Chrome sandbox prevents malware from automatically installing on your Mac or affecting other browser tabs. Chrome also has built-in Safe Browsing with anti-malware and anti-phishing technology that alerts you if you come across a website that is suspected of containing malware or activities.
