Universe Sandbox 2 allows you to control how the universe works. You can transform the solar system into whatever you think will work. It is based on real physics, so if you make a mistake while building your universe, disaster is inevitable.

Gameplay

The game has no purpose in its play style, requiring you to create your own fun by controlling the solar system. Players can do whatever they want in the game. Precise physics creates interesting destruction sequences combined with great graphics.

The experience is designed to be played in virtual reality. You can throw planets around causing massive collisions, or stop them in orbit by playing with the laws of gravity. The gameplay is easy to understand for anyone as it is designed for players to learn as they go.

System requirements

The software requires little from your system with a minimum of 2 GB of RAM. It works with Windows, macOS, Linux and Ubuntu and is also available for VR.

Missing Items

The application may use some direct goals, as the only thing left for the player is to have fun. There is also no music in the game. This is an attempt to mimic the emptiness of space, but it fails.

Alternatives

Universe Sandbox Legacy is the first part of the series. This does not exceed expectations, as number 2 has completely redesigned the game engine and significantly improved the graphics.

The Space Engine is a sandbox variant of the universe. This game is mainly focused on exploring the various planets rather than playing with the physical laws of the world. Also, Space Engine is free, while Universe Sandbox 2 is not.

Good experience

The sandbox gives the player an interesting space management experience while teaching physics at the same time. It’s not that hard to pick up, but it lacks any direct target. However, it is an interesting experience and worth a try.
