SciTE is in an awkward position. Although it can be used as a normal text editor, it is clearly aimed at programmers. Its user interface is dated and it lacks many of the graphical features that users might expect from text editors.

On the other hand, it is not as full featured as more popular code editors such as Visual Studio Code. Visual Studio Code also supports custom modifications, but due to the large user base, there are likely to be many frequently requested modifications already in existence.

SciTE can technically support almost any feature thanks to its Lua support, but this may require you to write your own modifications as the community is much smaller and there are fewer community developed solutions.
