Allows you to monitor and switch connections

The app comes with a sleek and user-friendly interface that is unlikely to cause you any trouble, regardless of your experience with similar tools. You can get started by clicking the plus button and selecting the type of connection you want to create, either Shadowsocks, Socks5, or the one you copied from your clipboard. Depending on your selection, you’ll need to populate it with different types of data, such as name, server, port, password, or encryption type.

The tool comes with a dashboard where you can view each total speed or average upload and download speed. At the same time, the app provides detailed information about all apps and their processes sending and receiving data. In the Connections tab, you can preview a list of processes, domains or targets with details such as rules, networks and types. If you want to add a rule, the utility provides a way to test it.

Shadowsocks is supported, but slightly differently

As mentioned, this tool differs from Shadowsocks in that the latter creates a local server on your system, which means that the application needs to know socks/http in order to send and receive data.

Lux is designed to intercept connections and then decide whether and how to proxy them without the application even noticing the protocol. Additionally, the tool works on Layer 7: Application Layer and Layer 3: Network Layer. Currently, the app does not support IPV6.
