Mac OS X comes with a default Screen Sharing application that can be used to connect and control remote computers via VNC, but you can always choose other solutions.

Tiger VNC is a high-performance focused VNC client that allows you to run video applications or visualize 3D representations on the remote side without limitations.

Configure your VNC connection and easily access remote computers

In the TigerVNC connection window you have to provide the address of the VNC server and then just press the “Connect” button. Note that you will need to provide a user password for the remote computer to complete the process.

TigerVNC will display the remote computer’s desktop in a separate window that can be easily resized, or you can choose to switch to full screen mode.

TigerVNC allows users to interact with the remote desktop using the mouse and keyboard on the client side, and even supports keyboard shortcuts in full-screen mode.

Secure your connection with TLS encryption

By default, TigerVNC encrypts your connection using the TLS standard, but you can disable this via the options panel or choose to provide a custom X509 CA certificate. The same area allows you to choose the authentication method to use.

TigerVNC also enables you to define a default resizing mode for the screen when starting a new session, or adjust the compression level. Other options include the possibility to share the remote screen with other users.

Manage remote computers from the comfort of your desktop

TigerVNC is capable of establishing a connection between your Mac and a remote machine, and has efficient management features, including the ability to synchronize clipboard contents between workstations.

You can also set TigerVNC to pass system keys directly to the server and change the assigned menu keys.

Note that TigerVNC also supports connecting in view-only mode, which means the mouse and clipboard are completely ignored.
