When using multiple browsers, which is not uncommon these days, opening links from other applications can be a hassle. If you don’t want to open one in your default browser, you’ll have to manually copy and paste the link, which you don’t want to do for every URL.

default browser Remembers the most recently used browser and uses it to automatically open links. What’s more, it lets you quickly choose your favorite browser from the menu bar or blacklist any browser you don’t want to use.

Open the link in the most recent browser

This can save you a lot of time if you frequently switch browsers for different workflows. The last active browser will automatically be used to open links from other applications, no action required on your part.

You can even click the app icon in the menu bar to see the browser at the top of the list; that’s the one that will be used to open the next link. If you don’t want to use certain browsers, you can blacklist them from the application’s preferences.

Quickly select your preferred browser

If the automated system just isn’t enough, you can simply select the browser you want to use temporarily from the menu bar. This is helpful if you’re doing something that involves switching browsers but still want to open all links in a specific browser.

The main browser can also be configured from the application’s preferences, and you can restore it to the default browser at any time. The benefit is that you don’t have to switch your system’s default browser settings every time you want to suspend the app’s functionality.

While there are other applications that allow you to choose which browser should be used to open each link you click, the default browser can automate the process so that links are automatically opened with the correct application. It won’t be the perfect system for every situation, but it also allows you to manually select your preferred browser from the menu bar.
