If you’ve been doing this for a while, chances are you already have a digitized coin collection created using another similar app. OpenNumismat lets you import data from these applications, even from Excel spreadsheets.
But even if you have to start from scratch, it shouldn’t be that hard. The demo database gives you an idea of how to enter data and has a number of fields where you can add any important information you have. You can also attach photos to each listing.

Tools to help you manage your favorites
Your Coin Catalog and Collection have separate tabs that allow you to store information about all the coins you are interested in and the coins you own. You can sort them in various ways, bulk edit entries, duplicate coins to easily add similar coins, and more. There’s even a built-in image editor.
Unsurprisingly, OpenNumismat provides comprehensive statistics, and you can generate reports and export them to various formats.
cross-platform and fairly outdated
While it’s packed with features, the app’s design hasn’t kept up with the times. Considering the cross-platform compatibility, the user interface is very outdated, which sometimes makes the application difficult to use. For example, tab descriptions are not visible when selected, and the edit window takes up a lot of screen space and cannot be resized vertically.
Overall, OpenNumismat has all the features a coin collector needs, although the packaging could use some improvement. With the UI upgrade of the Mac version, this app will be easier to recommend.
