Apart from basic audio playback functions, iTunes, the default macOS music player, offers you the possibility to purchase songs and sort them by album.

While iTunes is great for organizing music, there are many other controller apps designed to simplify playlist management and eliminate the need to open utilities to provide instant details about the current track, etc.

View your entire album collection in full screen mode

turntable, on the other hand, is an iTunes controller designed to help you browse your album collection digitally, just like you would with vinyl records. Turntable only works in full screen mode and automatically launches the iTunes application to access music library data and play songs.

From the main Turntable window, you can choose to browse your music library by album, album or artist. The utility detects album artwork and displays thumbnails to help you identify them faster, but also for visual effect.

When a specific album is selected, Turntable displays the track list while using the album artwork as a background image. The app’s top toolbar allows you to adjust volume, toggle playback, or skip to the previous or next track.

During our testing on an iMac running on El Capitan, we noticed that the search function did not work properly, and that Turntable did not recognize the work if there were other types of files associated with the album, such as digital books.

Also, Turntable will not show albums or artists with only one track available, even if the metadata is visible in iTunes.

All in all, Turntable presents a refreshing approach to browsing your iTunes library, but you might not be able to play some tracks with the help of this app.
