Transport Minister Khaw Boon Wan announced last month that Changi Airport will suspend terminal 2 operations for 18 months starting May 1.

This decision will allow Changi Airport Group (CAG) to save operating costs during this period, as well as accelerate the ongoing upgrade work on Terminal 2.

Today (May 12), CAG announced the indefinite suspension of operations at Terminal 4 starting May 16.

Currently, T4-based airlines will operate from terminals 1 or 3.

Meanwhile, the terminal's shops and restaurants will close and the bus service connecting the T3 will also be suspended.

CAG explained that this measure is part of the additional efforts aimed at consolidating its terminal operations given the reduction in air traffic due to COVID-19.

He added that there are currently "a very small number of flights still operating at the terminal", and this suspension will allow them to save on operating costs, such as utilities and cleaning.

According to CAG, the reopening of T4 depends on when demand for air travel increases and the demands of airlines seeking to re-launch flights at Changi Airport.

He said he would continue to work closely with his airlines and airport partners and was ready to resume operations at T4 as soon as a sufficient number of flights returned to the terminal.
