Subtitles are difficult to get right, as even the slightest bit of desynchronization will throw off viewers and make a movie less enjoyable. Subtitle files are easily opened in any text editor, but working with said editor and a video player is far from the most efficient way of writing and correcting subtitles.

Subs Factory is an app purpose-built to help you write, synchronize, and translate subtitles. It lets you open a video file and subtitle in the same window, and easily set up each line so that it matches the dialog perfectly. Most popular video and subtitle formats are supported.

In the main window, you get a video preview on the left, the subtitles on the right, and an audio waveform at the bottom. The latter helps you synchronize subtitles with spoken words without even having to play the video. Each change can be previewed instantly, and you can even view two subtitle files side by side for easy translation and synchronization.

For the benefit of efficiency, Subs Factory is designed to be usable solely with a keyboard and various shortcuts. You can still use a mouse, of course, but a lot of actions can be sped up with a simple key or key combination.
