Just like in any other industry, mail client developers like to create unique formats that only their applications can handle, which leads to problems when trying to migrate your messages or process them in any way.
Emailchemy allows you to convert mailboxes created by a wide range of applications to general-use formats that any mail client should be able to handle. It’s simple to use, with a wizard-based interface, though it does look somewhat outdated.
Convert to and from numerous formats
Whether it’s Apple Mail, Thunderbird, Outlook, or any other popular mail client, Emailchemy will be able to read these messages and convert them to other formats. To start with, you’ll need to select the source, and the app should be able to find the email data automatically, though you can also choose the location manually.

Then, just select the user profiles to be converted, use filters if necessary, and define the output format. The app can export to PST, EML, MBOX, Thunderbird folders, and many others.
Set up filters to get only the data you’re interested in
Obviously, your inbox may contain tons of messages that don’t need to be converted. These might be duplicates, old emails, or just items stored in certain folders.
Emailchemy can exclude all duplicate messages and allows you to configure filters to exclude other items as well. Filters can be based on date, folder name, sender, recipient, or subject.
Intuitive but visually outdated
One look at the user interface is enough to tell that this is a Java-based app. It’s not exactly modern-looking, but it does the job as well as you can expect. Thanks to the wizard mode, it’s very easy to figure things out as a new user.
All in all, Emailchemy is quite useful if you need to convert lots of emails for various purposes. It’s especially handy for processing inboxes stored in older, uncommon formats, and its filtering features allow you to exclude messages you no longer need.
