Checker Plus for Gmail is a useful extension for the Google Chrome browser that allows you to check the status of your Gmail inbox without leaving the current tab or logging into the Gmail client.

The extension can notify you with a simple sound or using a human voice, which you can customize according to your needs. These voice notifications can also be customized, as can desktop pop-up notifications, all of which can be done in the Options tab.

The General tab lets you mark messages as read when you preview them, and you can choose which labels to monitor and which labels open by default in pop-ups, just like in Gmail tabs.

​You can customize the folder categories for which you will receive notifications, so you won’t be bothered by the contents of your spam folder. The Keystrokes tab contains parameters for the keyboard shortcut active in the pop-up window.
