Reference trackers are designed with this in mind. It lets you find and add all publications that you cite or refer to, gives you a way to organize them, and enables you to generate reference lists using a variety of formatting styles.

First, you simply add the publication’s ISBN or DOI as a reference. If you don’t have any of these, you can search by title, author, or key terms. The app should be able to find them directly.

Once added, references can be organized by groups and keywords. You can specify where to reference them in your work and even attach related documents.

Finally, when you need to create a formatted reference list to attach to your work, the application can generate one using any popular style. These can be edited and exported to other formats, and you can even create your own custom styles and share them.
