curiotta is a note-taking app for macOS that uses the standard RTF file format to store all your data, which means you can access the information even if you decide not to use the utility in the future.
The Curiota application is able to handle annotations containing text content, images, hyperlinks, etc., but it can also handle individual files. With Spotlight integration, you’ll be able to query your database and get relevant results almost instantly.
To save desktop space, the Curiota user interface reverts to a simple status bar menu that can be activated with a single click of the mouse: the panel will remain active and on top of all other windows until you deactivate it.
In the Curiota main window, you can organize entries by collections and quickly switch between categories. Note that you can collect text snippets, links, files, or hyperlinks by dragging them to the top of the Curiota status bar menu.
However, any items added this way will automatically be included in the Inbox collection, so you still need to open the Curiota menu and move them to the correct group.
When you launch the Curiota application for the first time, you will be prompted to create a folder in which to store all your entries. Note that you can choose any location on the drive and move the folders as you see fit.
In addition, Curiota also gives you the option to store folders in iCloud Drive or Dropbox directory, allowing you to easily synchronize data between devices.
Although you can navigate the database folders through the Finder yourself, you’ll definitely save some time by using the Curiota context menu to display exactly the item you’re looking for.
In fact, to increase efficiency, Curiota relies on the built-in Spotlight feature to help you find specific entries: just enter a keyword into the search bar and the application will update the results list in real time.
Curiota enables you to filter entries by type (comment or file), but you can also sort the list twice, taking into account title or date added, modified or created.
All in all, Curiota provides a well-organized space where you can store everything you might be interested in without having to deal with complex workflows. You can access the data at any time without using the app, as each note is saved to a separate RTF file.
Still, browsing through all the folders Curiota creates to organize these files can be time-consuming, so using the built-in search tool based on Spotlight indexing will definitely simplify things.
