Google has released the new major version Chrome 124 for the users. The developers have closed a number of security holes and the new browser version is now available for download.

With the new Chrome versions 124.0.6367.60/61 for Windows and macOS and 124.0.6367.60 for Linux from April 16, Google fixes 22 vulnerabilities in its browser. None of these vulnerabilities have been exploited for attacks so far. Chrome 124 does not offer any new features for users. Manufacturers of other Chromium-based browsers have not yet followed suit, but will follow suit in the near future.

The Chrome Release Blog lists 13 of the 22 security vulnerabilities discovered by external security researchers and reported to Google.

Google ranks three of these vulnerabilities as high risk. Another six security vulnerabilities have been identified as medium risk. Two vulnerabilities can be used to inject and execute code.

You can find out if the current version is already active on your computer by using the Chrome version dialog. This can be opened by clicking on the settings menu, which is located behind the symbol with the three vertically stacked dots to the right of the address field.
