Here’s what the different numbers mean:
Battery runtime is the battery test run. If the test started with the battery fully charged and ended with the battery fully discharged, the test run time is also the battery life.
Battery score is a combination of the driving time and the work completed during the battery test. If two phones have the same running time but different scores, the phone with the higher score has done more work. As with Geekbench scores, higher battery scores are better.
Battery level is the battery level at the start and end of the test.
What is new
Primate Labs is pleased to announce the availability of Geekbench 6.1, the latest version of our cross-platform processor and GPU benchmark.
Geekbench 6.1 has the following changes:
- Upgrade to Clang 16 Geekbench 6.1 is built with Clang 16 on all platforms. Geekbench 6.1 also improves the optimization switches used when building Geekbench.
- Increase the workload gap Geekbench 6.1 increases the workload gap (the pause between workloads) from two seconds to five seconds. The increased workload gap minimizes thermal throttling and reduces run-to-run variations on newer smartphones like the Samsung Galaxy S23.
- Introduce support for SVE instructions Geekbench 6.1 includes SVE implementations of several image processing and machine learning functions.
- Introduce support for AVX512-FP16 instructions Geekbench 6.1 includes AVX512-FP16 implementations of several imaging functions.
- Introduce support for fixed-point math Geekbench 6.1 introduces fixed-point implementations of several image processing functions. Geekbench uses fixed-point math to implement some image processing functions on systems without FP16 instructions.
- Improve multi-core performance Geekbench 6.1 improves the multi-core implementations of the background blur and horizon detection workloads, especially on high-end desktop processors such as 12- and 16-core AMD Ryzens, AMD Threadrippers and Intel Xeons.
Thanks to these changes, Geekbench 6.1 single-core scores are up to 5% higher, and multi-core scores are up to 10% higher than Geekbench 6.0 scores. As a result of these methodological differences, which have a non-trivial impact on the score, we recommend that users do not compare Geekbench 6.1 scores with Geekbench 6.0 scores.
Geekbench 6.1 is a recommended update for all Geekbench 6 users.

Geekbench 6 is a big update with a number of improvements, including special orientation towards machine learning that should take better advantage of your GPU. Another big improvement is that now all non-commercial use is free.

A lot has changed in the technology world in the last three years. Smartphone cameras take bigger and better pictures. Artificial intelligence, especially machine learning, has become ubiquitous in general and mobile applications. The number of cores in computers and mobile devices continues to rise. And how we interact with our computers and mobile devices has changed dramatically – who would have guessed that video conferencing would suddenly take off in 2020?
To keep up with these advances, we’ve released Geekbench 6. Designed with the modern user in mind, this latest version of Geekbench reflects how we actually use our devices in 2023.
New and updated tests from the real world
Geekbench tests have always been based on real use cases and modern users. With Geekbench 6, we’ve taken this to the next level by updating existing workloads and designing several new workloads, including workloads like:
- Blurred background in video conference streams
- Filter and adjust images for social media
- Automatically remove unwanted objects from images
- Detect and label objects in images using machine learning models
- Analyze, process and convert text using scripting languages
Modern datasets
We also updated the datasets that the workloads process to better match the file types and sizes that are common today. This includes:
- Higher resolution images in image tests
- Larger map in navigation tests
- Larger, more complex documents in the PDF and HTML5 browser tests
- More (and bigger) files in the developer tests
Lifelike scaling
The multi-core benchmark tests in Geekbench 6 have also undergone a significant overhaul. Instead of assigning separate tasks to each core, the tests now measure how the cores work together to complete a shared task. This approach improves the relevance of the multi-core tests and is better suited to measure heterogeneous core performance. This approach follows the growing trend of including “performance” and “efficient” cores in desktops and laptops (not just smartphones and tablets).
