HTML5Point is an interesting and useful PowerPoint add-in that, as you might have guessed by the name, allows you to convert PowerPoint presentations to HTML5 format, supported by a wide range of modern desktop and mobile browsers.

Obviously, in order to take advantage of all the features this PPT to HTML5 converter and publisher has to offer, you must have Microsoft Office on your computer system. The installation process of the add-in is simple and has no surprises, just like any other normal application.

Once installed, it automatically integrates with PowerPoint’s Ribbon toolbar. Whether you open PowerPoint directly or launch HTMl5Point and start PowerPoint from the add-in’s startup screen, you’ll notice a new tab appears in the Microsoft-reviewed utility.

Just load the presentation, select the slides and click on the “Publish” button in the HTML5Point tab. You will see a compact hover window that basically offers you three possibilities to publish the PPT file, either on your computer hard drive, on a Learning Management System or even in an FTP folder.

As expected, the first method is by far the easiest, as you only need to name the output file and choose a location, then fiddle with some general settings that are self-explanatory.

The latter two, LMS and FTP, unsurprisingly require a bit more attention on your part, mostly editing basic connection settings. Once you’re done, just click the Publish/Upload button at the bottom of the window.

If all goes well, you’ll see a more compact window that lets you immediately view the file in the output folder, or preview it as HTML on iPad, iPhone, and Android device browser simulators.

All in all, HTML5Point proves itself to be a very efficient, easy-to-use and convenient application that allows you to convert PowerPoint presentations to HTML and even publish them directly to an FTP server or a Learning Management System without much effort on your part.
