Exact Audio Copy is a so-called audio grabber for audio CDs that use standard CD and DVD-ROM drives. With other audio recorders, you usually need to listen to each wave that is captured, because they only perform jitter correction. Ripped CDs read on CD-ROM drives often produce distortions. But listening to every extracted audio track is a waste of time. Exact Audio Copy overcomes these problems by using several technologies such as multi-reading with verify and AccurateRip.

Characteristics

• All types of CD and DVD drives are supported (including USB, Firewire, SATA and SCSI drives)
• Hidden sector synchronization (jitter correction)
• A safe, a fast and a burst recovery methods can be selected. Fast extraction should run at the same speed as other grabbers with jitter correction, but is probably not accurate anymore. Burst mode only captures the audio data without synchronization.
• Detection of read errors and complete loss of synchronization and correction in safe mode, as far as possible
• Output of time positions of all non-exact corrections and possibility to listen to these positions
• EAC is capable of copying rows of music data, not just tracks

• Use of the Windows Audio Compression Manager (ACM Codecs) for direct compression to e.g. MP3 waves
