Gmail Notifier Plus resides in the new Windows 7 taskbar and allows you to quickly access several components of Gmail. The app uses Gmail’s secure RSS feed to retrieve email. The notifier has two main functions that make it a good implementation in the new taskbar:

Jump list access

Right-clicking on the Gmail Notifier Plus icon will bring up a jump list that shows your most recent unread messages. A counter is displayed at the top, but the skip list only allows a maximum of 10 titles to be displayed. Below are some common tasks that increase productivity.

Message preview

Hovering over the icon activates the thumbnail preview showing a snippet of your unread email. The app makes great use of the thumbnail feature to display other notifications as well.
