Judge Lina Hidalgo highlights progress on flood mitigation projects despite coronavirus

HOUSTON – Harris County judge Lina Hidalgo held a press conference on the progress of the county's flood mitigation projects.
According to a press release, the projects "continued unabated during the COVID-19 crisis and the order to stay at home and work safely".
Hidalgo joined Harris County Commissioner 4 Jack Cagle and Matt Zeve, Deputy Executive Director of the Harris County Flood Control District for the press conference.
- In the Fairbanks-North Houston detention area, a few days after completion. It will be able to house around 114 Olympic swimming pools. This will make a big difference for the communities in the region. Park a series of projects that will go along White Oak Bayou.
- Once completed, these retention basins will have enough water to fill the NRG stage three times.

- Keep looking for creative solutions to relieve the floods.
- Flood control does not stop because the risk of flooding does not stop. We are still in danger, but we are doing everything we can to protect the community.
- Amidst bond programs, we had identified hundreds of projects that could be accomplished using these bonds. More than half are nearing completion.
- Fairbanks will be a beautiful, solid and useful facility. This is a project of many.
- The water goes down and our waterways are connected. We have to take care of the top, middle and bottom of the hill. It is a bead in a chain of protective beads.
- This installation is the one in which we will aim to bring the comfort of the park.
