Another week, another governor with a complex of God 2

Police arrest surfers for stopping on the beach

Like most of the world, Cape Town in South Africa is closed to stop the spread of the virus.

The city allows residents to stroll on the beach during a "training window" every morning from 6 am. at 9 a.m., as if they were all incarcerated criminals.

But you are not allowed to go to the ocean to surf or paddleboard.

Surfers noted that even if the walkways are crowded, the open ocean has virtually unlimited space … which clearly makes it easier to maintain social distance in the ocean, rather than being crowded on the promenade.

Unfortunately, orders of government are not known to be logical.

To back off, the surfers went to the beach and stayed there with their surfboards and protest signs.

The police arrived and told them to keep moving. After all, it was an "exercise window", not a "beach window pole".

Those who ignored the orders were arrested for immobilizing when they should have been exercising.

Barber revoked reopening license

Karl Manke, a 77-year-old barber, had his license suspended because he opened his shop in defiance of Michigan's closure decision.

The state suspended the license without due process: they simply revoked their right to earn a living.

But Karl Manke continued to cut his hair.

There was no shortage of customers during the opening week. Some waited two hours to cut their hair, just to support a defending man.

"I am not trying to be a mocker. I am trying to make a living"Help Manke.

"I tried for unemployment. I was refused twice because of unemployment."

Manke faces a $ 1,000 fine and two charges of misdemeanor.

But a judge refused to sign an order to suspend Manke's operation until he had a hearing on June 23. The local sheriff also said that he would not apply the governor's orders.

It is unclear whether the governor's orders even have legal weight, as the state legislator has not authorized the extension of the blockade.

But whatever the legal consequences, Manke has promised to face violations of his rights. And he has a lot of support.

Colorado restaurant permit revoked after Mother's Day opens

The county health council revoked its license at a Colorado restaurant after it opened for Mother's Day.

The restaurant was opened in defiance of the state's closure order, prompting the governor of Colorado to criticize the restaurant owner at a press conference:

"Customers will come back en masse when they feel safe. When people watch videos of people crammed into a restaurant without social distancing and without masks, people feel less secure and the widespread economic suffering will only continue. "

Wait … doesn't a crowded restaurant mean people feel safe enough to come back in droves?

Everyone in this crowded restaurant was there willingly. They were all willing to be around other people and therefore felt safe enough to do so.

The governor continued: "I love my mother too much to endanger her by visiting a busy restaurant that operates illegally just to take a selfie with tortillas and a mimosa."

It's great, my friend. Then you and your mother can stay at home curling up in fear as adults who are ready to risk going out into the world and living their lives.

These are not haircuts or mimosas. These are fundamental freedoms and overtaking of government authority. No one has allowed this person to play God with the lives of others.

Four plans in Congress to cancel different amounts of student debt

The jubilee is coming! There are now FOUR different plans in Congress to cancel student loan debt.

They all have different characteristics and forgive varying amounts of debt for different groups of people.

For example, a plan would forgive up to $ 25,000 in student loans for essential workers, such as healthcare workers, first responders, postal workers and supermarkets.

Another proposal would cancel ALL student loan debts for any medical worker caring for patients with Covid-19. Remember that many of these doctors and nurses have six debts.

Another bill would cancel federal student loans for Everybody, but up to a limit of $ 10,000.

And another version of the same bill would go further, forgiving up to $ 30,000 in government guaranteed student loans.

There is actually a fifth plan, proposed by Joe Biden's team, that would forgive the federal debt to students for anyone attending a public university or a historically black university.

We have been predicting a debt jubilee for years. It may not be one of these plans, but you can see the writing on the wall. Debt cancellation is coming … and so are the financial consequences.
