Bitcoin Cash update complete: 3 new features added to consensus rules

Bitcoin Cash update complete: 3 new features added to the consensus rules 3

Today at exactly 9:00 am ET on May 15, 2020, the Bitcoin Cash network completed another update by adding new features to the blockchain. The latest update comes with new opcode support, a chain limit extension and improved counting of signature operations using the new implementation of "Sigchecks".

Several blocks were extracted according to new consensus rules

The Bitcoin Cash network is updated every six months, and they generally take place on May 15 and November 15 of each year. BCH Subscribers around the world followed the update, as they do every year, to see if everything went well. The update started after block 635 258 and the consensus rules came into effect after the extraction of the next block. The first addition allows faster spending on unconfirmed transactions, as the developers increased the chain transaction limit from 25 to 50. If we looked at the mempool chain limitation history, they would find that when Satoshi was first launched Bitcoin, had no limit. Bitcoin Unlimited chief scientist Peter Rizun discusses exploring chain boundaries in a detailed editorial on the blog read.cash.

Another addition is the opcode, OP_Reversebytes, which reverses the bytes of the top element of the stack. In January 2020, the developers of Bitcoin Cash organized a videoconference on the roadmap of the Bitcoin Cash script and the opcode OP_Reversebytes. One idea that OP_Reversebytes could take advantage of is the "Mitra" concept, or the project formerly known as

Nimbus Developed by Tobias Ruck. Ruck says the transactional version could unleash sophisticated smart contract potential in the BCH net. The last feature that improves sigop counting called "Sigchecks" was discussed in the BCH Developers Meeting # 18. The Sigchecks specifications explain the motivation behind the new implementation when visiting the Github repository.<img class = "lazyload aligncenter wp-image-389248 full size” title=”Bitcoin Cash update complete: 3 new features added to consensus rules” src=”data:image/svg+xml,%3Csvg%20xmlns=%22http://www.w3.org/2000/svg%22%20viewBox=%220%200%201280%20500%22%3E%3C/svg%3E” data-src=”https://news.bitcoin.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/05/nnennnwwyydydgd7777.jpg” alt=”Bitcoin Cash update complete: 3 new features added to the consensus rules "width =" 1280 "height =" 500 "data-srcset =" https://news.bitcoin.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/05 /nnennnwwyydydgd7777.jpg 1280w, https://news.bitcoin.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/05/nnennnwwyydydgd7777-300×117.jpg 300w, https://news.bitcoin.com/wp-content/uploads/2020 /05/nnennnwwyydydgd7777-1024×400.jpg 1024w, https://news.bitcoin.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/05/nnennnwwyydydgd7777-768×300.jpg 768w, https://news.bitcoin.com/wp-content /uploads/2020/05/nnennnwwyydydgd7777-696×272.jpg 696w, https://news.bitcoin.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/05/nnennnwwyydydgd7777-1068×417.jpg 1068w, https://news.bitcoin.com /wp-content/uploads/2020/05/nnennnwwyydydgd7777-1075×420.jpg 1075w "data-sizes =" (max width: 1280px) 100vw, 1280px”/>

"From the earliest days, Bitcoin had a Sigops counting rule to limit the amount of possible CPU usage in a given transaction or block, based on the principle that signature verifications are by far the most more intensive. in the processor " Characteristics detail. "The essential idea of Sigchecks is to rely only on the expenditure transaction and to count the signature verification operations actually carried out."

Discussions on future development

In general, BCH the community is satisfied with the upgrade change and many supporters discuss future improvements such as Avalanche, UTXO engagements, relaunch of the following opcodes; OP_Mul, OP_Lshift, OP_Rshift and OP_Invert, and concepts like Bobtail. In addition, the community celebrated and discussed the May 15 update and future development. For example, Collin Enstad is host a live broadcast with various Bitcoin Cash supporters before the update and also after the event.
