Although it’s quite simple to come up with a successful tower defense formula, most of the good ideas have already been used by other developers, which makes it difficult to have any claim on the current market. However, there are still many ways one can improve the genre and come up with new ideas, especially since the genre is quite devoid of any boundaries.
Destroy balloons using ninja monkeys
Bloons TD Battles is a tower defense game that’s a continuation of the famous Bloons series, except that it focuses on multiplayer gameplay instead. As such, you can go head-to-head with players from all over the world and send the balloons yourself, while also defending from the oncoming slaughter yourself. It’s quite the addictive formula, especially if you enjoy strategy games.
In case you are not aware of the franchise, your main goal is to protect an objective from the floating balloons that come your way. The towers are actually ninja monkeys and various other such contraptions designed to pop the balloons as quickly as possible. You can also upgrade them in order to increase their damage, or provide them with extra range and vision.

Send wave after wave of bloons to the enemy
In the versus mode, you also have to do the attacking at the same time, which is achieved by purchasing bloons from a long list of available ones. Each one of them comes in a different color, and they are tougher to destroy the more expensive they are. They can also have special abilities like super speed and random direction switching, which makes it that much tougher for the enemy to hit them.
There are multiple modes you can enjoy as well, in case you are not a fan of the classic versus. As such, you can also challenge other players to a classic tower defense game, in which both you and your opponent have to build towers in order to survive the same waves of enemies. On top of it all, the graphics are even more colorful and enjoyable now, although they also require more system resources as well.
Be prepared to deal with microtransactions
In the end, Bloons TD Battles is certainly very fun and full of content, which makes it a great choice for every casual tower defense fan. However, you need to watch out for the microtransactions, because they might provide paying players some unfair advantages.
