WebDAVNav Server is a free and simple to use desktop application for Mac OS X that allows you to start a basic WebDAV server for sharing files with other computers in your network and with iOS devices in the nearby area.

Using WebDAVNav Server is an effortless procedure, as you only need to select the folder to share and then click the “Start” button.

Moreover, you can optionally select a different port (the default being 8080) and authentication credentials (username and password) if you prefer.

Furthermore, after the server is “On”, you can connect to it using the address displayed in the center via any standard WebDAV client, including the Finder.

The simple way around this is to select the “Go” menu and then choose “Go to Server”, after which you can enter the address, the login credentials and voila.

Additionally, the authentication settings provide another layer of security to your server and blocks users who do not know the username and password.

When connected to the server, you can do anything with the contents of the folder, such as moving, copying, renaming, downloading and uploading files and folders.

All in all, WebDAVNav Server is a simple self-explanatory solution to starting basic WebDAV servers on your Mac. Although you can share only one folder at a time, the setup process is straightforward and requires no advanced knowledge. On top of this, the app comes with a free price tag.
