Supports image viewing and analysis, supports features such as DICOM read capabilities, interactive segmentation, volume rendering, rigid and non-rigid recording, screen capture mode, 4D image viewer, and connectors

3D sheet is an open source CAD application specializing in medical image processing and 3D visualization of image data.

The tool can run on Windows, Linux and Mac OS X platforms and offers support for DICOM image reading capabilities, automatic image segmentation, broadcast voltage image analysis and visualization, rendering volume, fiduciary and measurement units, and custom color maps.

Working environment

The graphical user interface looks clean and offers a well-structured set of features. The program integrates support for a wide range of modules that can be activated from a drop-down list. Each module includes its own set of parameters that can be folded if you think the design looks too full.

In addition, 3D Slicer integrates an integrated 3D viewer along with three default readers, where shooting of Axial, Sagittal, Coronal or 2D Oblique volume images can be represented.

Several smart buttons are implemented in the GUI to help you easily access different basic modules such as Data, Volumes, Models, Transforms, Fiducials, Editor, Measurements and Colors.

You can adjust the volume of image data in scenes using the Volumes module, which allows you to modify the interface in terms of window, level, threshold, and LUT color.

You can modify geometric data display options such as VTK models and FreeSurfer surfaces using the Models module, which allows you to change color, transparency, and cropping. You can take snapshots of the scene settings and save them to a file.

Import / export options

3D Slicer allows you to import Medical Reality Markup Language (MRML) scene files from XML-based text elements to help you load and view reference data. In addition, you can add individual volumes, datasets, or entire directories that contain specific information, as well as transformation matrix. You can also export processed MRLM information to XML file format.

Different display modes

You can work with a wide range of display modes, such as four frames, 3D tabs, dual 3D or conventional widescreen design, and control the 3D workspace using various settings (e.g., zoom in or out, enable a spelling or perspective projection shows an enlarged view of the area surrounding the mouse pointer, activates a bird’s eye view).

By default, 3D Slicer loads all modules included in the package. In order to improve the load time and make it as compact as possible, you can make the utility open only the modules you need.

Support for an impressive number of modules

3D Slicer integrates a complete set of modules that you can use, related to different objects of study, such as Data, Volumes, Plates, Volume Representation, Editor, Models, Fiducials, Measurements (rules and angles), ROI, Transformations and color.

In addition, it allows you to use two wizards, namely ChangeTracker to quantify changes in pathology and AI FE Meshing that allows the creation and editing of volumetric meshes.

You can also work with several logging modules that are optimal for your task, i.e. fast, robust, brain-only or non-raster image data logging. Statistical atlases can be generated for various segmented structures by aligning images with segmentation.

Other modules manage data related to segmentation, quantization, MRI diffusion (denoising, diffusion tensor, tractography, piping), IGT, time series (4D image viewer), filtering (e.g. resampling tools, arithmetic modules, morphology), surface models, converters (e.g., culture volume, DICOM series creation), and endoscopy. The overall functionality of the utility can be improved with the help of connectors.

A powerful and reliable image display and analysis application

To make a short story, 3D Slicer includes support for a wide and full range of features that can be applied to clinical research and image-guided therapy, and is especially suitable for skilled users.
