A video projector is an image projector that receives a video signal and projects the corresponding image onto a projection screen using a lens system. Video projectors use a very bright ultra high performance lamp (special mercury arc lamp), xenon arc lamp, LED or solid state blue, RB, RGB or remote fiber optic RGB lasers to provide the lighting needed to project the image, and the most advanced can correct any curves , blur, and other inconsistencies with manual adjustments. If a blue laser is used, a fluorescent wheel is used to convert the blue light into white light, just like with white LEDs. (White LEDs do not use lasers.) The wheel is used to extend the life of the phosphor as it is destroyed by the heat generated by the laser diode. Racks for remote RGB fiber lasers can be positioned far away from the projector, and multiple racks can be placed in the same central room. Each projector can accommodate up to two racks, and each rack houses multiple monochrome lasers that are mixed and transmitted to the projector cabin using optical fibers. Projectors using RB lasers use a phosphor wheel blue laser in combination with a conventional solid state red laser.

Video projectors are used for many applications such as conference room presentations, classroom training, home theater, movie theaters and concerts, and have largely replaced ceiling, slide and conventional cinema projectors. In schools and other educational institutions,[1] sometimes they are hooked up to an interactive whiteboard. In the late 20th century, they became commonplace in home theaters. Although large LCD TVs have become quite popular, video projectors are still widespread among many home theater enthusiasts.
