Authorities announced Friday that Kobe, his 13-year-old daughter Gianna, and seven others died in a helicopter accident in southern California earlier this year.

In the January 26 accident, the Los Angeles County Department of Forensic Medicine released an autopsy of the nine victims and found that the deceased was in an accident.

The victims included two other girls who lived with their families, a basketball coach and a pilot. When the plane crashed on the slopes of Calabasas, they were on their way from Orange County to the women's basketball game at the Kobe Mamba College of Sports.

The National Transportation Safety Board is still investigating the cause of the accident and is using the weather as a key factor in the investigation. The 50-year-old pilot Ara Zobayan's toxicology test found no presence of alcohol or drugs.

According to the NTSB, the morning of the accident, despite the dense fog and high visibility, Zobayan always obtained special visual flight rules and flight permits. Before the accident, Zobayan told the air traffic controller that he was climbing to avoid the clouds.

The NTSB said in its preliminary report in February that the aircraft had not suffered an engine failure before the crash.
