2021 Cadillac Escalade earns only 17 miles per gallon combined

We understand that fuel economy is not a priority for large buyers of luxury SUVs, especially those considering the new Cadillac Escalade. Looking at the list of new three-row features like the standard 16.9-inch OLED infotainment screen, GM augmented reality navigation system and super cruiser ($ 2,500 extra), its efficiency is less than Stellar is easy to miss.

According to new figures published by EPAThe Escalade 2021 with a standard 6.2-liter V8 and two-wheel drive gets only 17 miles per gallon combined. Four-wheel drive climbing, on the other hand, only returns 16 mpg combined with the same engine. These figures show that Escalade is one of the least efficient SUVs in the competitive package; however, we still have no fuel economy figures on the GMC Yukon with the same 6.2-liter V8, only with the 5.3-liter V8. But of the whole group, the Infiniti QX80 is the thirstiest.

The Escalade's 6.2-liter V8 may be relatively inefficient, but it produces a robust 420 horsepower (313 kW), uses the same 10-speed automatic transmission you get in the GMC Yukon, and allegedly gives the SUV has a towing capacity of up to 8,300 pounds. But there is good news for Climbing buyers who care about fuel – the diesel engine is a free supplement.

Cadillac says Escalade's 3.0-liter turbocharged diesel engine, good for 277 hp (207 kW) and 460 lb-ft (624 nm), won't cost more than traditional gasoline V8 and should be more efficient. However, we won't know until Cadillac officially releases these figures. But the efficiency in other GM models like the GMC Sierra and the Chevrolet Silverado, for example, improves by around 20% with the diesel engine instead of the V8 of 6.2 liters.

The 2021 Cadillac Escalade will go on sale later this year with a starting price of $ 76,195 (versus $ 1,295 for shipping and destination). Meanwhile, the longest ESV Escalade starts at $ 79,195.
