A prototype of the next Husqvarna 901 Svartpilen was seen during the tests

With the coronavirus blockade gradually easing in Europe and the rest of the world, motorcycle manufacturers seem to be gradually preparing for future products. An early and reduced prototype of what would be the most powerful model in the Husqvarna Svartpilen family was seen in tests somewhere in Europe. However, the image may be an image prior to the current coronavirus pandemic, and for the moment Husqvarna has probably made several modifications to the prototype. The Husqvarna 901 Svartpilen, as it will be called, will be based on the KTM 890 Duke and join the 401 Svartpilen and 701 Svartpilen.

The Husqvarna models are based on the KTM models of the parent company. The 401 is based on the KTM 390 Duke, and the 701 shares the LC4 engine of the KTM 690 Enduro R and 690 SMC R. In this case, the Svartpilen 901 will use the parallel parallel 890cc engine of the KTM 890 Duke R, which was introduced more early this year. The engine simply does not receive a rolling bump from the mill of the 790 Duke, it also gets more performance, with 121 hp of peak power and 99 Nm of maximum torque.

The stripped prototype doesn't show much in terms of the bike's design. But following previous iterations of the Svartpilen range, we can expect the similar neo-retro design of the 701 Svartpilen. The new test mule will be one of the new Husqvarna models that will share the KTM 890 engine, with the Husqvarna 901 Norden, the Swedish brand's first adventure style model. The 901 Norden and 901 Svartpilen are expected to debut as 2021 models as Husqvarna seeks to expand its model range and global presence.
