Tata Motors announces calibrated restart of factories and dealers


Tata Motors said it has gradually restarted operations at its manufacturing plants, dealerships and service centers across the country. Commercial vehicle and passenger vehicle manufacturing activities have already resumed in Pantnagar in Uttarakhand and Sanand in Gujarat. The company says that the factories of Lucknow, Dharwad, Jamshedpur and Pune (for the manufacture of ambulance vehicles only) should start production in the coming days. This start of operations follows receipt of all necessary approvals from the competent government authorities.

Customers have started new bookings and deliveries have already started.

Nearly 200 dealerships and 300 passenger vehicle workshops and more than 400 outlets and 885 utility vehicle workshops have started operating with a new set of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) that define minimal interactions and maintain prudent social distance while relate to customers. According to the company, it has received new reservations, passenger vehicle deliveries have started and workshops are seeing an increasing influx of vehicles for service.

The necessary social distancing and sanitation measures are implemented in all facilities.

Tata recently launched “Click to drive”, an online end-to-end platform for selecting and purchasing cars. Tests are offered with a member of the dealer's staff seated in the rear seat to avoid physical contact. After each test, the vehicle is completely disinfected. Customers' vehicles arriving at repair and service workshops are also completely disinfected before being delivered after service.
