  • Milk: Dilute and lighten the flan to make it creamy.
  • Cinnamon: a little ground cinnamon adds a fantastic flavor.

  • Bread: Thick slices of challah bread all day is the best French toast, but brioche bread, Texas toast or French bread also works.

How to make stuffed French toast

  • Make the pastry cream: In a medium bowl or deep plate, add the eggs, milk, cinnamon and vanilla and mix until smooth.
  • Assemble stuffed French toast: Spread a slice of bread with a good even layer of Nutella, then garnish with a second slice of bread to create a sandwich. Set aside for now.
  • Heat the pan: You want the surface of your griddle or stove to be nice and warm. Add the butter to melt.
  • Bake French toast: Once the butter has melted and the pan is hot, dip each piece of Nutella-stuffed bread in the custard, turning it over to cover both sides for a few seconds. Place in the melted butter and fry until golden. Flip and repeat on the other side.

Tips for making stuffed French toast

  • Use hard bread. It absorbs cream better than really fresh bread and has a better texture when fried.
  • Do not spread the Nutella to the brim. Leave a small border so that it does not drip while baking French toast.
  • Be careful not to soak the bread for too long, otherwise it will soak and not bake. Just flirt it for a few seconds on each side.

  1. Whisk eggs, milk, vanilla and cinnamon in a medium bowl until well blended.
