At Christmas we love nothing more than a tree, decorated with twinkling lights, sparkling ornaments and topped with a star.
And one of the best is the tree that stands proudly at Rockerfeller Center in New York City.
The tree for 2020 has recently arrived and has been assembled, waiting to be decorated.
A photo of the Norway spruce, native to Oneonta, New York, was shared on Rockerfeller Center’s social media accounts, where it was heavily criticized by viewers.
People weren’t impressed with her appearance, calling her a “terrible mistake” and saying it was typical of 2020.
On Twitter, one person commented: ‘Could the Rockefeller Center Christmas tree look worse? 2020 on the brand… ”
Another said, “What’s wrong with the tree?”
“Decorate with some advice please,” asked a third.
Someone else wrote: “I wasn’t expecting anything to be good or nice or pretty in 2020 and this tree confirms my terrible expectations.”
Another user commented: ‘No. Absolutely not. End of the conversation. Take it back tomorrow morning and put it back where you got it and you don’t even think about coming home for dinner tomorrow until you’ve come back with something respectable.
After hundreds of similar posts on Twitter, whoever manages the Rockerfeller Center account clearly decided that was enough.
They responded to the reaction with the boldest tweet, writing, “Wow everyone should look good after a two day trip, eh?
Wait till I turn on the lights! See you on December 2! “
Over 2,000 people loved his applause, and many added that they were eager to see the finished tree.
The appearance of the tree is not the only thing that has caught people’s attention.
A little surprise also came to town with him: a small owl saw had hidden in the branches.
The owl traveled inside the tree for several days and after being discovered was taken to Ravensbeard Wildlife Center for treatment.
Staff at the center said he was hungry and had had nothing to drink for three days, so they took care of him, giving him food and fluids.
In a Facebook post, a worker at the center revealed that he named the owl Rockerfeller and wrote: ‘We gave him fluids and we feed him all the mice he eats.
“It had been three days since he had eaten or drunk anything. So far everything has been fine, his eyes are bright and he looks relatively healthy with everything he’s been through.
“Once you have registered with the vet and obtained a certificate of good health, you will be released to continue your wild and wonderful journey.”
