Germany to push travel ban to stop virus variants

Germany plans an almost total ban on travelers from Britain, Portugal, Brazil and South Africa as European governments increasingly oppose banning entry to countries where variants the most contagious of Covid-19 are endemic, writes The Guardian. The Berlin initiative comes as EU interior ministers have met to discuss a more coordinated approach to travel restrictions. Last week, Belgium banned all non-essential travel by land, sea and air within and outside the country.
