Wine based wrapper with non-native UI
Andrea Mosaic is a Wine-based wrapper for the Windows AndreaMosaic program designed to help you build digital mosaics using images from your Mac’s hard drive.
Because it’s a Wine-based application, you won’t get the benefits of a proper OS X interface, and the interaction between you and its controls feels similar to a normal Windows application. That being said, the app did its job well and ran smoothly when we tested it.

Create interesting digital mosaics effortlessly
In order to make a mosaic on Mac, you can use the application in two different ways: you can load a main image and convert it into a mosaic with gridlines and specific patterns, or you can load a folder containing multiple images And use them to create real mosaics.
When you start the app, you’ll see a welcome screen where you can choose a collage format for your mosaic project, such as square collage, rectangular collage, film collage or DSLR collage, and Quick access to the app’s how-to booklet with all the information you need to master it.
Control every aspect of your mosaic to achieve the desired effect
Once one or more images are loaded in the main window of the application, you can easily adjust the size, resolution and number of tiles of the mosaic, as well as change the parameters of the tiles, such as pattern, spacing and colors between them.
What’s more, the AndreaMosaic app enables you to create beautiful mosaics with sizes up to 10 billion pixels and a maximum number of tiles/images of 500,000.
All things considered, if creating mosaics is your thing, AndreaMosaic, despite its clunky interface, is a reliable and productive work tool.
