text It is a small but very powerful macOS utility, located in your status bar, allowing you to insert text fragments in any application using user-defined abbreviations. The application is very easy to use, once you create a text fragment database, it is possible to greatly improve your work efficiency.

Straightforward text fragment management solution, supports abbreviations

In order to be able to use the aText application effectively, you must first define your own abbreviation database: in the main window of the application, you must enter the content of the code snippet, and then assign a shortcut. To help you keep track of your entries, aText offers you the possibility to organize them in groups.

In addition, the app also includes a basic sorting function that allows you to sort groups in alphabetical order or sort items according to their abbreviation, content, creation/modification date, or last use time.

Use abbreviations to easily insert text snippets in any application

The aText acronyms are accessible system-wide, but consider that you actually have to type them: if you just copy and paste the shortcut, you will not see any results.

If you don’t really want to remember the abbreviations, aText also allows you to see the complete list of available text fragments in its status bar menu: just select the text fragment you want to use and aText will insert it into the currently enabled text field.
