OS image burner with simple user interface
The balenaEtcher open source application relies on a single window in which users can specify the operating system image they wish to burn. The utility is capable of processing operating system images in .img, .iso, and .zip formats.
The next step is to specify the SD card on which to burn the operating system image. For convenience, balenaEtcher can automatically detect the external drive and allow you to select the drive you want to use from the drop-down menu.
At the same time, the list will not include your internal drives, so it is impossible to erase your entire disk.
Monitor the operating system image burning process and restart immediately
Finally, you must press the burn button and monitor the progress in the balenaEtcher main window. balenaEtcher lets you know how many tasks have been completed, expressed as a percentage, and the current transmission speed.
After the process is over, mount the SD card again, and you will be able to use the burned OS image. balenaEtcher also offers you the possibility to burn the same operating system image on a new card, or you can load a new operating system image.
Please note that balenaEtcher provides few customization options, but in the application’s “Options” panel, you can choose to switch the error reporting function or automatically uninstall when successful.
