DCraw is a free command line tool that allows you to convert video images shot on digital cameras to the more common PPM and TIFF formats. This is an exciting new development in digital image conversion. Not only does this save a lot of time, but it can also save money in the long run since you don’t have to buy expensive software.

The Draw command line program allows the user to convert videos to the widely used PPM and TIFF file formats. The PPM file format is similar to the PDF file format, except that it is encrypted and uses a different compression algorithm. Most people don’t use PDF to send large files, but it is commonly used to convert a digital image from a camera or webcam into a smaller image, such as a text file. Once you convert your camera footage to this image format, it can be viewed in Windows as a text file.

The biggest advantage of DCraw over other image transfer tools like Photoshop etc. is that it has a simple graphical user interface. It is easy to use and does not require complex processing. All it takes is pointing and clicking the camera icon to capture, then selecting the file to convert. The DCraw command line interface will prompt the user within a few seconds and then the conversion will begin. If a user wants to remove unwanted green gradation from the edges of image files or rotate or skew an image, all they have to do is right-click on the Command Prompt icon and then select Reverse and the problem will go away.
